Taking a break was my personal choice, says Aditya Redij
Aditya Redij, who has been part of shows such as Tenali Rama and Mere Rang Mein Rangne Wali, is happy to be back on TV with Dr Aarambhi. The actor began his career playing characters with grey undertones before becoming known largely for positive roles on television. And now he is thrilled to play a negative role again.
Expressing his excitement, Aditya says such roles offer greater scope for performance. “When a character has grey shades, there are many variations to explore. I haven’t done such a role in a long time. My first show had those shades initially, but it eventually turned positive. This time, there’s no chance of that,” he says. Aditya says the breaks he took over the years were always intentional. “Whenever these breaks came, it was my personal choice, whether for family, health, or simply to be mentally ready for a new project,” he explains.
The actor shared,“Long shooting hours and continuous schedules for years take a physical and mental toll. Taking time off was a conscious decision. However, after Tenali Rama, I returned to work within a few months because I decided I didn’t want to take a break anymore,” he says.
‘For two years, I gave my complete time to my son’
Fatherhood was a key reason behind his earlier slowdown. “I didn’t want to miss the initial years of my child’s life. For two years, I gave my complete time to my son. I wanted to raise my own child and not pass on that responsibility,” he says, adding that his son is now three-and-a-half years old. “I know I can be away from home now, so I decided to start working again,” he adds.
