Swooning over Salim Merchant

Indian Idol launched with fanfare, with a promise of bigger and better extravaganza in store for the viewers this season. Ace music director Salim Merchant, who’s part of the jury, is looking forward to a great season.
“For me, a true singing idol of India is someone who’s a versatile singer, who can sing a classical bandish or a thumri as well as do justice to a rock song.I’m looking for that one voice that will touch every soul as well as connect with people instantly. A voice that will leave its melodious singing in everyone’s mind. I’m happy to be a part of this global phenomenon and take up this responsibility to find that one voice that will not only be the voice of India but represent India all over the world.”
True to his thoughts, Salim has been dedicating his time for the big search. What came as a surprise to all is that the unassuming Salim has a great female fan following. In fact, the auditions saw many a female contestants expressing their love in different ways for the ace music director!
