Suchitra Pillai repeats old-lady act in Hollywood
Suchitra Pillai seems to have developed a liking for older characters. The actress, who plays a mother-in-law in television show Beintehaa, will now be seen as an elderly woman in a Hollywood film.
She has just finished shooting for horror flick The Other Side Of The Door, helmed by British director Johannes Roberts. Suchitra plays a 70-year-old housekeeper in the film.
Unlike the telly show where she is seen as a glamorous saas, the actress had to don prosthetic makeup to look old on the big screen. Says she, “When I went for the audition, the makers were not sure if I would be able to look so old. But when they came for the retest, they were convinced and signed me on. The film is based in India and will have a worldwide release next year.”

The movie also features Jeremy Sisto from tele series Law & Order and Sarah Wayne Callies from TV shows Prison Break and The Walking Dead. Suchitra says, “I have found a friend in Sarah. Hollywood’s professionalism is impressive. They don’t make you wait or dilly dally; they’re very sorted.”
