Srishti Singh on playing Vaani in Yaadein: When I wear the doctor’s scrub on-screen, it feels like I am honouring my parents' dream
Upcoming medical drama Hui Gumm Yaadein - Ek Doctor, Do Zindagiyaan is a story about second chances in life. The show revolves around the journey of extraordinary Dr. Dev (Iqbal Khan).
Vaani, played by Srishti Singh is a strong and independent woman, who is shaped by the challenges she has faced in life. She learned early to be practical and keeps her emotions guarded.
For Srishti, Vaani isn’t just another character; it is a role that carries a personal connection. Having once been a biology student who even cleared Dental-BDS, playing a young resident doctor on screen feels like a way to honour her parents’ dream of seeing her become a doctor.
Talking about what makes this role personally meaningful, Srishti Singh shares, “My parents always wanted me to become a doctor and what makes this journey even more special is that I appeared for the medical entrance exam and got a chance to pursue a Dental – BDS degree. Life eventually took me towards acting, but a part of me always wished I could do something that made my parents’ dream come alive. When I wear that scrub on screen, I feel I am honouring that dream in my own way. Stepping into Vaani’s journey is deeply emotional for me because she too is someone shaped by resilience, ambition, and principles. Through her, I get to experience a doctor’s life – a life I once came close to choosing, and that makes this role incredibly personal.”
Earlier in a statement Iqbal Khan said, "Iqbal Khan opened up about the show and his role and shared, “Yaadein is a story about second chances in life. My character Dr Dev loses his memories, his authority, and the life he once knew. However, in that loss, he is given a rare opportunity to start again. He starts his life again and learns to listen more, feel more, and connect with his patients not just as a doctor, but as a fellow human being. What moved me was the idea that sometimes life takes everything away so you can rediscover empathy, humility, and the courage to begin again. Dr Dev’s journey is one of internal transformation.”
