A year and a half after her white wedding in July 2023 in Germany, Sreejita De fulfilled her dream of having a Bengali wedding with husband Michael Blohm-Pape on November 10 in Goa. The ceremony was rich in Bengali traditions and rituals, with only immediate family members and close friends, including actors Ashita Dhawan, Sailesh Gulabani and Shiv Thakare, in attendance. The two-day celebration featured mehndi, sangeet and haldi ceremonies.

Sreejita shared, “Everything turned out exactly as I had envisioned. I wanted my wedding to be cosy, traditional and personal; an intimate gathering with people who genuinely love us, celebrating the day and creating lasting memories with us. I’m so glad everyone enjoyed it.”

In a previous interview while announcing her Bengali wedding, the actress, who has been part of shows such as Uttaran, Piya Rangrezz, Nazar, Yehh Jadu Hai Jinn Ka!, Bigg Boss 16 and Shaitani Rasmein, in an exclusive chat told us, “It’s always been my dream to dress as a Bengali bride. We initially planned the wedding last November but work and travel kept pushing it back. Now, it’s finally happening. We celebrated our first anniversary a few months ago, but since both ceremonies and outfits are so different, this feels like a fresh, new experience.”

She had added, “Michael and his family are well-prepared for the rituals — I’ve shown them videos of Bengali weddings, and they’re excited, especially because they’ve seen Indian weddings in Bollywood films.”

Michael had also shared, “People often ask us how many weddings we plan to have! From the start, it was important for us not to combine our traditions into one ceremony. We wanted to honour and respect both of our backgrounds. Having already created wonderful memories with our German wedding, we are now excited to relive those emotions through a Bengali wedding.”
