Spreha Chatterjee opens up about her growth on Anupamaa: Audience love makes the journey meaningful
For actress Spreha Chatterjee, every day on the sets of Anupamaa is a new learning experience. She also enjoys performing and feels emotionally connected to her character Maahi. The young actress, who has been receiving immense appreciation for her performance, says that the process of bringing scenes to life is what excites her the most.
Talking about what keeps her motivated every single day, Spreha shared, “What I look forward to most every day is the process itself. As an actor, the set is where everything finally comes alive including writings, rehearsals and characters. I try finding out small, honest moments in a scene as Mahi and that’s the part I genuinely enjoy the most.”
She further added that the positive atmosphere on the set plays a huge role in keeping the energy uplifting despite hectic schedules. “Television schedules can be intense, so having a team that’s collaborative and positive makes a huge difference. Every day, there’s an opportunity to learn something new, whether it’s emotionally through a scene or technically through the way we shoot,” she said.
Off-camera too, the actress enjoys spending quality time with her co-stars and crew members. From dancing and making reels to sharing snacks and laughter, Spreha revealed that the cast shares a warm bond behind the scenes.
The actress admitted that portraying Maahi has helped her evolve emotionally as an actor. “Playing Mahi has taught me how to express emotions more naturally and connect deeply with the character instead of just saying the lines,” she shared, while also crediting her experienced co-stars for inspiring her to improve constantly.
One of the most emotionally demanding moments for Spreha recently was Maahi’s divorce sequence with Gautam. Recalling the intense scene with Rupali Ganguly, she said the emotions felt incredibly real while performing. “The way Anupamaa stood by Mahi despite everything was extremely touching, and somewhere as an actor, I connected deeply with Mahi’s vulnerability and heartbreak,” she revealed.
Spreha also shared that her family has been her biggest support system ever since she became a part of the popular show. From watching every episode carefully to sending her feedback after scenes air, their encouragement keeps her motivated through long shoot schedules.
When asked what matters more to her between awards and audience love, the actress answered with complete honesty. “For me, audience love will always matter more than awards. Awards are definitely a great achievement, but ultimately it’s the audience’s support and connection with your character that makes your work truly meaningful,” she said.
Being associated with one of television’s biggest shows has also increased her popularity, something Spreha considers both special and responsible. “People emotionally invest in your character and expect you to give your best. So for me, the focus is always on working hard and staying true to the character,” she concluded.
