Sparking nepotism debate to quitting the show: Times when Rahul Vaidya made headlines in Bigg Boss 14

Rahul Vaidya's journey in Bigg Boss 14 has been full of ups and downs. The singer made headlines for not one but several reasons in the house. He's made a mark on the show for his love life, strong bond with Aly Goni and enmity with Rubina Dilaik and Abhinav Shukla. Here's taking a look at the top highlights.

Just when the season had picked up, Rahul Vaidya caused a furore inside and outside the house for nominating Jaan Kumar Sanu by calling him a product of nepotism. When Jaan countered Rahul by saying he was fortunate that his father is Kumar Sanu, Rahul told him he doesn't need a famous father. This made Jaan yell and warn Rahul, 'Baap pe mat jaa'. While Twitterati hailed Rahul for this, Salman reprimanded him for it in the Weekend Ka Vaar episode.

Bigg Boss is known for its tasks which often leads to crazy fights between the contestants and one such happened when Rahul Vaidya decided to snatch Jasmin Bhasin's travel bag. He warned her beforehand that he will use all his strength to win and she might get injured. Jasmin held on to the bag but in vain. Later, she broke down and yelled at Rahul for using 'physical strength' to take the bag away from her. She also accused him of threatening her. This time again Rahul gained the support of Twitter users who accused Jasmin instead of playing the woman card and acting 'bechari'.

While Rahul was in a denial mode in the beginning of the reality show, he surprised everyone by proposing to his girlfriend Disha Parmar on national television on her birthday. He wore a t-shirt with 'Marry me' written on it and said, "Today is a very special day for me. There's a girl in my life and that that girl's name is Disha Parmar. God! I have never been so nervous. I don’t know why it took me so much time to ask you – Will you marry me?" Disha later tweeted she had sent her reply. Their love story became quite the highlight of the show.

Rahul Vaidya shocked everyone when he decided to leave the show midway in December. He cited 'homesickness' as the reason. He told Salman, "I haven't spent a day without my family in my entire life. I am mentally strong but not without family. I do not agree that I did not perform because of lack of interest. I mean this straight from the heart, I want to leave because I do not want some deserving candidate to leave." He also apologised to his fans, the makers of BB and also Salman. He told them that he doesn't have a strong bond with anyone in the house and cannot share his feelings. Rahul's decision made Salman upset and the latter questioned his motive of leaving after his re-entry on the show.

Rahul forged a great friendship with Aly Goni in the house. The two stood by each other through thick and thin, and were each other's greatest support in all the tasks. Aly was on Rahul's side when he fought with Rubina Dilaik and Abhinav Shukla, and also helped him propose to Disha on national television. Rahul and Aly consider each other brothers and the former also sang 'Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Chodenge' for the latter in one of the episodes in the last week.

Not once but several times in the house, Rahul has fought with Rubina Dilaik and her husband Abhinav Shukla. During one of the episodes, Rahul made a nasty comment on the couple's relationship. The singer called Abhinav names and later said, "Abhinav iss ghar ka sabse bada user hai... aur joh apni biwi ka nahi hosaka woh kisi ka kya hoga." This did not go down well with Rubina who then questioned Rahul's masculinity and asked him to refrain from going personal. Abhinav jumped into their fight and pushed Rahul a little which led to further fights. In another episode, Rahul called Abhinav 'nalla' and Rubina 'Nalasopara ki Rani'.

Initially in the game, Rahul was accused of picking fights with popular contestants like Rubina Dilaik and Jaan Kumar Sanu to gain publicity. He was otherwise quite a silent bee in the house. Rahul had, however, dismissed all the claims. Even later when he fought with Rubina, eyebrows were raised. The two, however, in the last week of Bigg Boss seem to be in a mood to resolve their differences and have been talking about their issues openly.

Rahul meeting the love of his life on Valentine's day was also a special moment on the show. The singer, who not only confessed his love and proposed to Disha, is all set to tie the knot with her. Disha made him propose to her in person, again and readily agreed to marry him. She also told him she was waiting for a special occasion to come to Bigg Boss and couldn’t have found a better day than Valentine’s Day.

Rahul has had quite a love-hate relationship with Nikki Tamboli, who initially had a soft spot for Rahul. Things changed when he confessed his love for Disha. The two had quite a few nasty fights during the tasks in the house, but then there have been lighter moments, too. This even made Rahul say in one of the episodes, "Is rishte ne mujhe bahut confuse kiya hai is ghar me, sach bata raha hoon (This relationship has confused me a lot in the house)."
