Sooraj Thapar’s car pelted with stones on Umergaon highway

Actor Sooraj Thapar, who has been shuttling between Umergaon and Mumbai for the past few months, met with an accident on Tuesday evening while on his way back to the city.
The actor, currently playing Emperor Iltutmish in Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s show 'Razia Sultan', was returning after the shoot. A few kilometers down the road from Umergaon, Sooraj’s car window was smashed by a series of large stones.The driver suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital. Sooraj said, “It was the last day of my shoot.
Both the driver and I started around 10:30 pm, when suddenly, a heavy stone smashed into the driver’s window and he suffered head injuries. However, he kept on driving. It sounded like a bomb. Then, a second stone was hurled at me through the other side and the window was smashed as well.

As a result of the impact, glass shards fell on my face. We halted after we felt safer and the stone-throwing had completely stopped. We called the other driver who took my driver to the hospital. Luckily, I only suffered minor injuries.
There are no street lights around Talasri village, near Umergaon. It is not at all safe. Also, the production house drivers insist that we should fill petrol and go through this unsafe area, rather than take the other safe route.”
