Sonal Vengurlekar joins the cast of Jamai No. 1 as an antagonist
Popular fiction show Jamai No. 1 continues to keep its viewers hooked with unexpected twists and high-voltage drama. The show is all set to witness a major turning point with the entry of talented actress Sonal Vengurlekar in a pivotal negative role.
Sonal joins the cast as Sayli Deshpande, Neel’s (Abhishek Malik) childhood best friend from Trimbakeshwar. The two have grown up together, attending the same school and college, and sharing a deep bond since the age of three. Sayli has practically lived in Neel’s house during their growing-up years, making her connection with him all the more intense. However, her return marks the beginning of an emotional storm in Neel and Riddhi’s (Simaran Kaur) married life. Sayli may appear innocent at first, but beneath the surface lies a manipulative and obsessive woman determined to reclaim Neel. Her jealousy over Neel's choice of Riddhi, influenced by Kanchan (Papia Sengupta), intensifies her dangerous obsession. Whether it’s lies, charm, or betrayal.. Sayli is ready to cross any line to get what she wants. A gripping showdown is about to unfold in the upcoming episodes.
Talking about her excitement, Sonal Vengurlekar said, “I’ve always believed that television antagonists are written with so much depth and complexity. While protagonists often have to stay within the lines of what's considered virtuous, antagonists get to explore the grey areas—and that's where the real drama lies. As an actor, I find that space incredibly exciting. I’m truly thrilled to be joining Jamai No. 1! It’s a show that’s already connecting with viewers, and stepping in as Sayli brings an entirely new dynamic to the storyline. She is not your typical negative character—she’s intense, emotionally charged, and dangerously smart. Her obsession, her psychological games, and the unpredictability she brings made this role both challenging and creatively fulfilling. I’m really looking forward to the audience discovering this new twist in the show.”
As Sayli’s mind games intensify in the upcoming episodes, Riddhi gears up to protect her marriage at all costs. A fierce face-off is on the cards—who will win this battle of love and obsession for Neel’s heart?
