Something very special happened on my birthday today, reveals Sudha Chandran

’s birthday today and since childhood she has celebrated her birthday in a sweet, unique way. “It was my father’s principle that we celebrate our birthday in places like an orphanage where we are able to do something for society. Back then the concept of parties was not there and we didn’t even have that kind of money to do something grand. There were years when my friends used to come to my home, we all used to cut the cake and eat idli sambhar and that was about it,” shares Sudha.

But something very special happened today which has made her day even more beautiful. She says, “I have a fan group where there are a few girls from different states and they always keep doing things for me. I always tell them not to spend money on gifts. But this year these girls donated lunch to an orphanage in

Udaipur

where there specially-abled kids. I am so happy that they did something like this for me on my birthday and followed the principle which my dad taught me. I think this is the best thing which happened to me this year."

Over the last few years, she has often spent her birthdays on the sets. “Celebrating my birthday on my sets used to feel like the greatest achievement for me. Celebrating it with the cast and crew and counting my blessings is my way of spending the day. Today I didn’t do anything because I have to fly to Hyderabad tomorrow for a shoot. My fans have sent me cakes so I will cut them and send them pictures and acknowledge their efforts,” adds Sudha.
