Sneha Wagh opens up about role in ‘Mahadev & Sons’: Vidya represents countless women who run households without applause
Sneha Wagh, who has been part of several popular TV shows, has recently returned to television with Mahadev & Sons in a strong role. In an interview, she talks about playing a character led by kindness instead of control, the power of motherhood, and why Vidya represents many Indian women we see in everyday life.
Speaking about her role Vidya, she shared, "Vidya is the backbone of Mahadev & Sons. She doesn’t try to control things or show power, but her presence is felt in every relationship in the house. She understands that anything excess love can slowly turn into poison. That’s why she doesn’t hate her sister Bhanu for the grudge she holds against her husband. She knows that it comes from a place of love turned bitter. She believes in staying calm instead of reacting and choosing kindness over control—that is her quiet strength. She also had the courage to stand up for her love when it truly mattered, even if it meant losing her home, family, surname, and inheritance. She believes in love, but she also understands its responsibility. Her conviction continues to guide her every decision."
She added, "Vidya’s universe begins and ends with her husband and her children. For her, happiness means a shared meal, a peaceful home, children who feel emotionally safe. She lives a life stripped of excess, and that reflects in her appearance, too. Getting into Vidya’s look comes naturally to me. My character wears just a sari, a mangalsutra, bangles, and a bindi."
When asked how she prepared for this role, she said, "Vidya is a mixture of all the mothers I have observed in my life. These are women who love fiercely, absorb pain silently, soften conflicts, and hold families together with grace. These qualities are rooted in Indian households, which is why Vidya feels so real. The love audiences have shown for her has been incredibly fulfilling; it tells me they recognise her. Vidya represents countless women who run households without applause or acknowledgement. She is gentle, but never weak; emotional, but never fragile. Her strength lies in loving and protecting her family without controlling them."
