Smriti Irani reacts to a 13 year-old photo with her 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' girl gang, calls them 'madcaps'
Smriti Irani, who returned to television after a break of 12 years, to reprise the role of Tulsi Virani in the iconic Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, is currently ruling the roost. The show, which recently took a 6 years leap, has been on the number 1 spot since the last two weeks. The actress-turned-politician recently reacted to a 13-year-old photo of her female co-stars from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and called them all “madcaps.” She reshared the photo on her social media account and wrote, ‘Madcaps’. The image has all the important characters from the Kyunki team.
The photo, first shared by actress Ritu Chaudhary Seth, who plays Tulsi Virani's daughter Shobha in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. In the picture Smriti Irani, Komolika Guhathakurta, Apara Mehta, Tasneem Sheikh Nerurkar, and Tuhina Vohra can be seen posing for a photo with each other. While Apara Mehta, Tasneem, Tuhina are not part of the second season, Smriti, Ritu and Komalika are still part of the show, essaying pivotal roles.
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi returned to television in August 2025, 25 years after it first premiered.
Recently, the show took a six years leap and Tulsi and Mihir are shown separated in the show. Speaking about Tulsi’s state of mind post-leap, Smriti had said, “Portraying Tulsi in this phase of her life feels deeply personal because it reflects the lived experiences of many women I have encountered through my work over the years. After the leap, Tulsi is separated from Mihi. Her journey is not about bitterness or blame. It is about a woman learning to stand on her own emotional strength. I see in Tulsi the quiet resilience of women who adapt, endure, and rebuild themselves when life takes unexpected turns. This chapter highlights that even in distance and silence, a woman’s strength, self-worth, and capacity to care do not diminish, they evolve.”
For those unaware, Mihir and Tulsi were among the most iconic on-screen couples of the 2000s. The show originally aired from June 2000 to November 2008 and ran for eight years, making it one of the longest-running television shows of that era.
