Slut-shaming, passing derogatory comments to body-shaming; times when contestants crossed the line inside the Bigg Boss house

TV's most controversial reality show Bigg Boss is back with its 14th season. Like its past seasons, this one too has managed to grab the audiences’ attention with its drama, ugly spats, and more. The contestants usually cross their lines in every season, if not physically then verbally. They criticize each other, pass personal and derogatory comments. There have been multiple instances when contestants in various seasons have got into such ugly spats and got backlash from the viewers. Here is a list of a few such moments:

Arshi Khan called Rahul Vaidya 'nalla', 'show chodh ke gaya tha' (Useless, you left the show went). He got angry and told her, "Vazan se bhaari nahi beta, dil aur dimaag me thoda bhaaripan la." Arshi was shocked to hear this comment and asked him to stay in his limits and not cross the boundary. Rahul asked her to move from his way. Arshi Khan adviced him to learn to respect women. She moved on to complain to Bigg Boss about Rahul Vaidya's behaviour and said, "Bigg Boss, Rahul Vaidya body-shaming kar raha hai." She looked at Rahul and said, "Tumhari band bajegi ab." Rahul Vaidya, who looked unaffected by this said, "Chal, jo karna hai kar, I stand by whatever I say."

Bigg Boss 14 contestants Shehzad Deol and Nishant Singh Malkani, who were part of the opponent teams, got into an unpleasant argument during a task in the show. In a recent episode on Bigg Boss 14, Jaan Kumar Sanu body-shamed Eijaz Khan during a task. It happened when Jaan told Eijaz that he will go out and also told him to not mess around with him. Eijaz became adamant after this. He said that skeleton dikhti hai inki, body dekho inki.

In the 13th season of Bigg Boss witnessing a verbal spat between Asim and Sidharth was a usual thing. But they went so ahead in their arguments that Asim once called Sidharth a ‘gutter’ and also mentioned that he stinks. He also called him a ‘piece of sh*t’ in one such fight.

Sidharth and Asim got into ugly fights almost regularly during the runtime of Bigg Boss 13. Once it so happened that Sidharth had talked abusively about Asim’s father. He had said that Asim was his father’s mistake. On the other hand, Asim had also abused Sidharth’s late father in the show. Salman had also reprimanded him about it.

Sreesanth gained a lot of popularity during Bigg Boss 12 for his frequently used abusive language and derogatory comments on fellow contestants. From calling Karanvir Bohra’s family ‘badtameez’ to calling Deepak Thakur a ‘beggar’ he received a lot of criticism for it all. He also went on to slut-shame Surbhi Rana, he commented on her character saying, “11 baje ke baad khadi hoti hai”.

It did happen once on the show that contestants Devoleena Bhattacharjee and Shehnaaz Gill got into a major verbal spat, wherein Devoleena had said to Shehnaaz, “Tumhein dekhne se acha main gaay ko dekh lun”. She had even faced backlash on social media for this.

Bigg Boss 13 contestant Shefali Bagga once commented on fellow contestant Rashmi Desai’s weight. She was slammed by the netizens and also by Bollywood actress Zareen Khan for not respecting fellow women.

Hindustani Bhau was seen calling Mahira Sharma as ‘badi hoth ki chipkali’. Further, he had also commented on the physical features of Paras Chhabra, he called him ‘kekda’ and also mocked his walking style. Another target was Tehseen Poonawalla, whom he called a ‘lakdi’.

Priyank Sharma faced a lot of backlash during Bigg Boss 11 for passing derogatory comments of fellow women contestants. He had slut-shamed Arshi Khan saying that she works out in the gym in a provocative manner. He had crossed all his limits when he commented on Shilpa Shinde and Arshi Khan’s weight. He had said, “ Saand jaisi bodies hai unki (Shilpa and Arshi). 70-80 kg ke to ban gaye yahan par kha kha kar, task perform karenge.”
