Anju Jadhav, who has been a part of shows like Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi,

Kasautii Zindagii Kay

and Tujhse Hai Raabta, is currently essaying the role of Kiyara, Rajesh (Sumeet Raghavan) Wagle’s boss, in

Wagle Ki Duniya

. Talking about it, Anju shares, “I have grown up watching Wagle Ki Duniya. So when I was offered a role in the show, I was excited to take it up. Even though I’m joining the show midway, everyone on the sets has been welcoming and warm.” Anju, who essays the role of a boss, adds, “Over the years, whenever I took up any role, I always tried to find inspiration in the common man and people working around me. So, for this role too, the inspiration came from all the working women I have seen in my life while growing up.”

An actor always aspires to play lead roles when taking up a new project. However, Anju started off with doing characters roles. Asked about whether foraying into the showbiz

industry

with character roles was a conscious choice, she says, “I started off with

Mahabharat

(2013) and got to play a lead role only in the show

Dil Deke Dekho

(2016). While every actor aspires to do a lead role, I realised our focus should be on enhancing our craft.” She adds, “I didn’t get any proper training in acting before coming to this industry. From acting, dialogue delivery, how to face the camera, staying fit amidst erratic schedules to understanding minute nuances of what goes into making a show, I’ve learned everything on the sets of my shows."

Talking about her share of

struggles

, Anju says, “I almost decided to

quit

the industry around 2014-15 when I wasn’t getting the kind of work I wanted. But before quitting, I decided to give it one last shot and analyse the reasons why I came into this industry in the first place. When that shift in perspective happened, everything started changing. During such stressful times, an individual has to motivate and push themselves to take baby steps, re-align and work on their goals. My mom and sister were my

rock-solid support

and I’m happy I stayed back. I worked hard, understood how to survive in this industry, and realised that with time, aap ko aap ke pasand ka kaam mil hi jaata hai.”
