A look at TV show judges who were replaced after being a part of popular shows for long

News about Rannvijay Singha being replaced by actor Sonu Sood was discussed widely on social media. Gang leaders Neha Dhupia and Nikhil Chinapa also won't be seen in the upcoming season of Roadies. This isn't the first time that a judge has been ousted from a particular show after being a part of it for a long time. In the past too, there have been instances where popular names like Navjot Singh Sidhu, Remo D'souza were replaced. Let's take a look: (All Photos - Instagram)

Rannvijay Singha

Rannvijay Singha, who participated in this youth-based reality show, Roadies, was a presenter and a gang leader from 2004 to 2021. This year, the audience will get to see a new face, Sonu Sood. In an exclusive interview with ETimes TV, Rannvijay spoke about there being no 'masala' behind his exit. He said, "When I started doing Roadies nobody knew what it was. What Roadies has become is because I’ve been part of it of course it is like my baby. Ab baby bada hogaya 18 saal ka hogaya… jab maa baap apne bacchon ko bejhte hain bahar Kabhi with a heavy heart…it’s that kind of situation. Of course I feel because I’ve been connected to it. I am more connected to Roadies than any fan or employee because nobody has been part of the journey for 18 years. So Mujhse zyaada Roadies se pyaar Aur Kaun kar sakta hai… but even I had to leave my house and go to boarding school. There are times when you have to do things but it’s not necessary. There is always a big reason behind it. There’s no change in relationship with the channel because for me doing Roadies always work for the channel and it is the same for me. I wish I could do this and also the other things which I was committed to do but it didn’t work out that way."

Neha Dhupia

Neha Dhupia, who spent half a decade on Roadies as a gang leader also won't be seen this year. Talking to an entertainment portal, Neha shared, "This year, I am not going to be a part of Roadies either. More than me, it’s just heartbreaking to see Rannvijay not being a part of it, and obviously reasons are best known to him and to the network."

4/7

Nikhil Chinapa

The makers of Roadies are getting the show completely revamped and Nikhil Chinapa, too, won't be seen as a Gang Leader on this show. He had been associated with Roadies since 2017. While talking about his exit, Nikhil told an entertainment portal, "I am definitely going to miss the atmosphere, the challenges, the conversations with my fellow gang leaders and the crew, who are like my extended family."

5/7

Navjot Singh Sidhu

Navjot Singh Sidhu was seen as a permanent guest of Kapil Sharma's Show, 'Comedy Nights With Kapil' (2013-2016). He was then seen in The Kapil Sharma Show from 2016-17, 2018-19. He was also seen in Family Time with Kapil in 2018. However, a political remark went against him and he was forced to leave the show. Archana Puran Singh has replaced him and Kapil's team often remembers him by teasing her.

6/7

Remo D'souza

Remo D'souza, Geeta Kapur and Terence Lewis were seen as judges in the show Dance India Dance. Mithun Chakraborty was the super judge of this show and motivated the contestants to build a career in choreography and dance. He judged the show for three seasons and then went on to do his own dance show on another channel titled, 'Dance Plus.' Geeta, Terence, too went on to judge different dance reality shows. However, the choreographer-director has returned to DID Li'l Masters as judge with Mouni Roy and Sonali Bendre, which will go on-air from March 12.

7/7

Anu Malik

Anu Malik was a crucial part of the show Indian Idol from its inception in 2004 till 2013. Later, he was again seen as the judge in 2016 for the ninth season. In 2018, too, he was a part of the panel until he was accused of sexual allegations and was forced to quit the show. He did return to Indian Idol in 2019 but the channel was brutally bashed on social media for their decision to bring him back. His stint on the show remained brief for about 2-3 weeks.
