will soon be making his fiction debut with the upcoming show '
Amma
'. We had recently reported about the show being inspired from the life of Mumbai female don Jenabai, and now, we have learnt that Shawar will be seen in an important role in the show. The 52-episode series, that will go on air from June 25 in the 10.30pm slot, will also mark the TV debut of actress Urvashi Sharma. Aman Verma will be seen in the role of a South Indian don in the show. 'Amma' is currently being shot in Hyderabad where the makers have erected a set to show the Mumbai of the 1940s.
According to sources, “Shawar’s role will be that of a guy-next-door, who will fall in love with Urvashi’s character after her husband’s death. He will eventually get married to Urvashi’s character and from thereon, his character will undergo a major transformation.” When contacted, Shawar confirmed the news to us and said, “I don’t fit into these saas-bahu TV shows. After I did the reality show 'Power Couple', I got a lot of offers, but I found this show quite interesting. It’s a finite series of 52 episodes. My look is also different and I am playing a character from the 1940s. Urvashi and I have a lot of romantic scenes. This is the first time I am playing a good boy. In Telugu movies, I have played the villain and people in Hyderabad recognise me more than people in Mumbai.”
Speaking to us from Hyderabad, Shawar told us that he has been helping his co-stars in getting to know more about the city. “I have been coming to Hyderabad for a long time now. We are shooting in Ramoji Film City, which is a little far from the city. Hyderabad is one of the most beautiful cities and it has much better nightlife than Delhi or Mumbai. The clubs and people in Hyderabad are much better,” he opined.
