Shark Tank India 5: IIM Ahmedabad’s Akriti Gupta turns down Rs 75 Lakh offer by Namita Thapar
In a recent episode of Shark Tank India Season 5, entrepreneur Akriti Gupta presented her brand Loopie, which focuses on affordable baby solutions. She asked for an investment of Rs 75 lakh for 1% equity. Loopie’s products include strollers, car seats and nappy bags for babies. The sharks acknowledged the build and design quality of the products. Later, Akriti shared details about her background and brand.
Akriti Gupta grew up in Dhanbad and later pursued her MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. Instead of choosing a typical corporate job, she decided to enter the startup world. Her first venture was Tiny Toddler, a kidswear brand that she managed for almost four years.
She then spoke about her current brand and the concept behind it. The panel discussed the pricing of Loopie’s stroller that ranges between Rs 17,000 and Rs 20,000. The sharks questioned whether this pricing strategy would help the brand attract a large number of customers. Kunal Bahl added that imported foldable strollers cost as much as Rs 60,000.
The company launched operations in March 2025 with gross sales of Rs 2 lakh. By October of the same year, the brand recorded sales of Rs 45 lakh. Akriti further shared that the company has raised Rs 14.7 crore so far. Loopie currently has Rs 30–40 lakh in cash and inventory valued at Rs 3 crore.
Shark Anupam stepped out due to valuation concerns. Namita Thapar, on the other hand offered Rs 75 lakh for 3% equity. Although Kunal Bahl did not agree with the valuation, he was willing to match Namita’s offer. Akriti then gave a counteroffer valuing the company at Rs 1.5 crore. Namita then adjusted her offer to 2.5% equity. Since no agreement was reached, all the investors withdrew from the pitch.
