Shark Tank India 4: Namita Thapar and Aman Gupta playfully tell Viraj Bahl ‘aap toh iss industry ke gunde ho’ as 23-yr-old Isha Jhawar pitches her sauce brand
The latest episode of Shark Tank India 4 saw 23-year-old entrepreneur Isha Jhawar, founder of the healthy sauce brand ‘Repeat Gud,’ impress the panel with her confident pitch. Introducing herself as the ‘Chief Everything Officer,’ she shared her vision for revolutionizing the condiment industry with nutritious, vegan-friendly alternatives.
As the sharks sampled her sauces, Namita Thapar and Aman Gupta playfully teased Viraj Bahl, founder of Veeba sauces, calling him the ‘don’ of the industry. They joked, “Aap toh iss industry ke gunde ho, yeh aap ne bataya hua hai. Aap ye maante ho ke nahi ke aap iss industry ke gunde ho?” to which Viraj responded with a smile, emphasizing, “No matter what, I will help Isha.” Showing confidence in her brand’s potential, Isha stated, “Sir, we will make Repeat Gud the ‘Veeba of healthy sauces.’”
Namita pointed out the high price point of her products, to which Isha confidently replied, “Veeba is not my competitor.” She went on to narrate her journey, explaining how her addiction to using sauces and mayonnaise with every meal led to health issues. “I was a student and got addicted to having roti or bread just with sauces. I fell very ill, with kidney stones, and ended up in a hospital. There were no healthy alternatives. That’s when I decided to create my own—our mayo is made from cashew milk and is completely vegan.”
The sharks were impressed by her determination, leading to intense negotiations. Isha initially sought Rs 50 lakh for 10% equity. Anupam Mittal countered with an offer of Rs 50 lakh for 10% equity, with a condition: if Isha achieves a Rs 7 lakh monthly revenue run rate by March 25, he will invest an additional Rs 50 lakh for another 10% equity.
Initially hesitant about the conditional offer, Isha tried to negotiate a better deal, asking what would happen if she exceeded the revenue target. In response, Anupam modified his proposal, stating that for the additional Rs 50 lakh, he would take between 5-10% equity, depending on performance.
After some deliberation, Isha agreed to the deal, marking yet another exciting moment on Shark Tank India 4—a young entrepreneur standing her ground and securing a promising investment for her venture.
