Shark Tank India 2: Peyush Bansal mistakes ‘modaks’ to be ‘momos’; Aman Gupta asks ‘kitne calories hai isme’
In the latest episode of Shark Tank India 2, 21-yr-olds impress the Sharks. Vinit Govinda Patil, Geeta Govinda Patil and Darshil Anil Savla present a range of delicious Maharashtrian home style hygienic snacks.
Vinit’s story also impresses the Sharks. Geeta gets overwhelmed while presenting her pitch and pauses in between. Namita tells her to take a break and speak without getting tensed and she will help translate.
Darshil is Vinit’s friend, who also helps them in the business.
Vinit reveals their actual story, “I started coding from 8th standard and in 9th I started freelancing. I had good clients and our monthly expenditures would get covered. I went college for two months and dropped out. With Darshil, we wanted to work together but we were not mature enough. We started an IT company. I wanted to learn work and how to make money and joined a company. I was looking for a product to launch and found it in my home.”
Geeta shared that she took up selling snacks after her husband lost his job in 2016. She started selling snacks in BMC office once they started liking it. During lockdown, she started making it on a larger scale slowly and came up with the product.
The Sharks try their snacks and Vineeta gets excited to see the modaks. Peyush Bansal asks, “Yeh momo hai?” Vineeta explains it to him that it is made of rice flour and they are very tasty. Aman asks, “Kitne calories ke hai yeh.” Vineeta tells him not to think about calories and just eat it as they are steamed. Aman gives his modak to Vineeta.
Vineeta relishes on modaks and asks Peyush give his to her as well.
The Sharks get into the details of the business. They are shocked to know that both the guys are 21-year-old.
Anupam says, “In 2 years you have made Rs 3 crore business. Aap ho naye bharat ke ubharte chehre.”
Aman wishes to make an offer and asks, “What do you want from the Sharks?” As Vinit replies, Anupam makes an offer. This upsets Aman as he says, “Mujhe toh bolne hi nahi dia. Aap sab bol do phir main offer karunga. Main shareef shark hu.”
Vineeta also makes an offer. Peyush also wishes to make an offer and requests Aman to state his offer. Aman tells them that the companies he invested in last year are making Rs 1-2 crore. Peyush wishes to join Anupam’s offer. Mrs. Patil wants four Sharks to come together. While Anupam says that the offer will change, Aman wishes to go solo. Aman makes a new offer as a single shark.
Peyush and Aman have difference of opinion. Anupam pitches himself saying, “I invested in 5 companies last year and everyone is making business of Rs 1000 crore and not Rs 1-2 crore.” The pitchers take a moment to discuss and accept Peyush and Anupam’s offer – Rs 40 lakh for 4% equity (valuation Rs 10 cr).
The third pitcher of the day happens to be a couple - Roshaan Vivekanand Mishra and Annkita Roshaan Mishra. Their product is AFE, aka, Auto Fire Extinguisher Ball, which can prevent fire-related accidents. They create a blast on set to show a demo of their product, which scares all the judges. A lot of discussion goes on regarding their business strategies.
All of them agree that their product is for a good cause. Roshaan shares that the Kamla Mills fire incident triggered him to create this product and it reminded him of his childhood incident.
Their ask is Rs 75 lakh for 5% equity (valuation Rs 7 crore). They accept Namita’s offer – Rs 35 lakh for 5% equity and Rs 35 lakh Debt @ 12% interest. Namita’s promise to help them with her contacts and the pitchers tell her, “We got a Ma.” The Sharks jokingly calls Namita ‘Phar-Ma’.
