Rajasthan is very close to Bollywood dancer and choreographer Shakti Mohan’s heart, because the Delhi girl spent more than 10 years here. Recalling those days during her latest trip to Jaipur, Shakti says, “I, along with my sisters Neeti and Mukti, did my schooling from BITS Pilani in the Shekhawati region. So, I am very well aware of Rajasthan, its culture, life, heritage, music, food and everything it is famous for.
And it’s no exaggeration to say that Rajasthan gave me the best childhood memories.” She adds, “The only thing that Mukti and I hated was the fact our elder sister Neeti used to be the head girl. She was the most sincere student while Mukti and I were badmash. And whenever we used to do any mischief, she would make sure that we would be punished. And she would also tell our parents about it. We always regretted the fact ki didi hamare school mein kyun hai?”

I was a little kid and I remember coming here with my classmates and visiting Hawamahal. The city has a charm. Along with the monuments, what I like the most is the handcrafted stuff, bags, jootis, and silver jewellery.”
Shakti, who was part of the item number Pritam Pyare in Rowdy Rathore, has also assisted Vaibhavi Merchant in a film. On taking her journey further in Bollywood, she says, “I never plan things. Whatever unfolds, I take it as a challenge and go with the flow.” Shakti is the winner of season two of the show Dance India Dance, and now she will be seen judging a dance reality show called Dance +. She says, “I never thought that I would judge any dance show. The role comes with great responsibility and I will try my best to do justice to it. The best part is that it will keep me connected to the contestants as I can relate to all the nervousness they go through on the stage.” Shakti adds that most of the contestants on such shows come from smaller cities.
“I have been observing that 90 % of the contestants come from cities like Chandigarh, Patna, Jaipur, Lucknow, etc. Spectacular talent from these cities has been dominating the shows.”
