Sarita Joshi - my best onscreen mom: Deven
Deven Bhojani, the actor who almost plays a mother to two kids in the TV show Mrs Tendulkar, says each day is a Mother’s Day for him.
“Every morning, she is the first one I interact with, as we two are the early risers in the family. We two always wake up early. I give a peck on her cheek and greet her Jai Shri Krishna every morning”, speaks Deven, every affectionately about her mother.

His most memorable Mother’s Day was when he threw a surprise party for her mother a couple of years back. “I had invited all her current and a few childhood friends, new and old neighbours, her brothers, sister and a few other close relatives of her Mother’s side. I can’t forget the emotionally choked – surprised expressions on her face then. She gave me a tight warm hug and then we all had a blast in the party”, remembers Deven.
Though his mother is out of town now, Deven has warned her to return on Mother’s Day. “I have bought a beautiful saree for her. I’ve cancelled my shoot on that day and will spend the whole day out with her. We’ll go to a temple in the morning, then to an Old Age Home, which she loves to visit often, especially on her Birthday and on Mother’s Day. In evening, we all will go to a restaurant to have traditional Gujarati or Rajasthani food. But of course, I’ll change the plan, in case she wishes to do something else on that day!”
Ask him of his favourite screen mom from all these years and the actor says, “In Baa Bahoo Aur Baby, where I played Gattu’s character; my mother’s character was named Godavari Thakkar and I use to address her as Baa, which was portrayed beautifully by Sarita Joshi ji. That’s my most favourite screen mother till date”.
