As Sara Khan and Ali Merchant are set to take audiences for a ride with their wedding on a reality show tonight, TOI asks TV actors what they think about thisIf Rakhi Sawant’s swayamwar and Rahul Mahajan’s wedding on satellite television wasn’t enough, now there’s another drama tonight... Sara Khan will tie the knot with Ali Merchant in Bigg Boss’ house. It’s obvious that everything’s staged.
So what do actors from the telly fraternity have to say about this?
Rushali AroraI think the show is completely scripted. There is nothing real in reality shows. A senior actor, who is a friend and who had participated in the show told me that every moment is scripted. About Ali-Sara, there were rumours a long time ago that they were married. However, I don't know how far that is true. But if they are getting married tonight, it’s definitely to grab eyeballs and add masala to the show.
Raja ChoudharyThe show is not scripted. Just that the inmates have come to the show with an agenda. They have already decided what image they want to portray on the show. I don’t find anyone real in the house. They are all fake. Sara and Ali were as such a popular couple. I can’t understand why they are doing this and why they are trying to grab attention.
Archana Puran SinghIt’s the year of scripted marriages! Judging from the body language of the couple, Ali at least looks natural and genuine, whereas Sara seems to be acting out a part. All the inmates joining in the happiness, decorating the house for the impending marriage look more as if they are performing a task that has been assigned to them. There is no genuine excitement; neither in the inmates, nor in the couple. Preparing for the marriage is like a communal activity. In all probability, it is staged.
Shama SikanderI have no idea. I don’t want to comment on other people’s lives.
Adita WahiI heard from friends that Ashmit was like a father- figure to Sara! I would like to believe that the programme is not scripted. I feel Ali has an upper hand as he watched the show and then entered the house. He must have devised this plan of getting married so as to stay on the show for long.
Vindoo Dara SinghWhen a person wants to enter Bigg Boss with a wild card entry, the makers of the show ask them what they have to offer to the show, how can their presence add to the show. The wild card entries should add to the show. They have to be interesing. Nothing is planned or scripted, but the inmates come completely prepared to show only a certain part of themselves. Ali must have entered the show to salvage his relationship. And getting married on national television will definitely boost the channel’s TRPs. But it’s not going to help them in any way. Sara is a successful actress, her career will be finished.
Avinash WadhawanSara is a very sensitive person. Maybe she was going through a bad phase in her relationship when she entered Bigg Boss. But I don't think this marriage is scripted. Had she known that Ali was to enter as a wild card entry then she wouldn't have torn his pictures in the first place. Marriage must have been a very impromptu decision as both might want to put an end to all the rumours about their soured relationship.
Angad HasijaSara and Ali were already a couple, so it’s no surprise that they want to get married. But considering all that has transpired between Sara and Ashmit when the show started, the marriage seems very fishy. I am stumped. Maybe they feel that shaadi kar lete hain toh saare pange hi khatm ho jayenge.
Jignesh JoshiI used to know Sara and she used to be a sweet, simple girl and I am sure she still is, But showbiz makes you do wierd things and the whole bit of tearing Ali's pics was a bit too much. And their marriage is surely good for the channel and the TRPs but I am sure they know what a huge responsibility marriage is. All said and done, one person who is going to benefit from this whole thing is Ali, shaadi or no shaadi. If the marriage lasts, its genuine and if it doesn't, then we all know what it is. Time will tell.
