Sangram Singh is in a very happy space these days. One, the wrestler is only happy to have got a home in Ahmedabad, which he says gives him a lot of inner peace and two, the wrestler-actor is also exploring various avenues in entertainment that will spread the word on sports, especially on wrestling. Sangram Singh, who was in Gujarat recently, spoke about life’s matters, scope of doing a Gujarati movie and more.
Excerpts:
Has life changed after your stint in Bigg Boss? Ever since Bigg Boss happened, a lot of entertainment and movie offers poured in. Salmanbhai advised me to do a film with a social message. So, after giving a lot of thought on various subjects, I am doing a film. What I am looking forward to is a youth centric film with a solid message. My film icon is
Dharmendra sahab. I am not a very big actor. So I am open to doing Gujarati movies also. I am also encouraging Payalji to do a Gujarati film. Regional films are big and one should consider doing regional films if decent projects are offered.
You are also focusing on raising awareness on sports culture in the country. I am focusing on entertainment because entertainment is the best way to promote sports in India. And wrestling can benefit a lot through entertainment. That’s why I am trying my best to juggle between wrestling and entertainment. Main toh bas change ka ek zariya hoon. Aur change ek yagnya hai jisko aagey baddhana mera maksad hai. There is an abundance of good sports talent in India and wrestling needs a strong support of a very big brand to endorse the sport.
READ: Sangram Singh shoots his film Yuva in DelhiDo you intend to explore more TV offers in the near future? I am exploring opportunities on TV as well. I am open to doing good fiction shows on TV. One aspect of TV is that it requires full time commitment as you are supposed to be on the sets for at least 12 hours a day. I got to learn lot of things from TV. TV taught me the basics of light, camera and action. Ek khaas baat TV ki hai ki ‘nahi, nahi, nahi’, teen baar dikhate hain aur wohi cheeze interesting lag jaata hai ji jab screen pai dikhate hain.
What do you like the most about Ahmedabad? Ever since I chose to get a home in Ahmedabad, that decision proved to be lucky as things are materializing and I find myself in a happier zone. I consider Ahmedabad lucky for me in many ways as the city gives me inner peace. Yahaan public bhaagti nahi hai aur who achchi baat hai. Amdavadis dil ke bahut achchey hain.
