Sana Raees Khan on balancing law and cricket: Both demand discipline and commitment
Lawyer and Bigg Boss 17 contestant Sana Raees Khan has added another dimension to her professional journey through her association with the Mumbai Marines franchise. A cricket enthusiast since childhood, Sana ventured into the sport’s business side as a team owner and is now entering her second season with the franchise. While continuing her legal practice, she has expanded her interests into sports management, balancing her responsibilities in the courtroom with her growing involvement in cricket.
The Mumbai Marines enjoyed a successful debut campaign, winning the inaugural season of the league. As Season 2 gets underway, the franchise will be looking to build on that momentum and deliver another strong performance. The side is led by former New Zealand cricketer Ross Taylor, whose international experience brings valuable leadership to the squad. His presence has added strength to the team’s preparations as they head into a new season.
Speaking about her association with cricket, Sana says, “Cricket has always been close to my heart. Owning Mumbai Marines has given me the opportunity to contribute to a sport that I have admired for years. This venture is much more than business; it’s about supporting talent, building a strong team culture, and creating a platform for competitive cricket. Winning the first season was a proud moment for all of us, and we're looking forward to another exciting season.”
Asked about cricketers she admires, Sana says, “At the moment, Ross Taylor is certainly one of my favourite cricketers. Beyond his remarkable achievements on the field, what stands out is his professionalism, humility, leadership and the respect he commands across the cricketing world.”
For Sana, the sport also mirrors many of the values that have guided her professional journey. She adds, “Cricket is more than just a sport for me; it represents teamwork, discipline, resilience, strategy and the ability to perform under pressure. These are values I strongly relate to in my own professional journey as a lawyer and entrepreneur. Through the Mumbai Marines, cricket has also become a platform to bring people together, celebrate talent and inspire the next generation of athletes.”
