Samina Peerzada: Satyajit Ray saw an actor in me

Satyajit Ray saw an actor in me...says Pakistani actress Samina Peerzada as she talks about her show, which airs on Indian television.
They say behind every successful man, there is a woman. But the opposite is true in case of Pakistani actress, Samina Peerzada. She attributes her success to Satyajit Ray. She recalls, “When I had travelled to India in 1979, I got the opportunity to meet Satyajit Ray.He told me, ‘I see an actor in you.’” She took up acting a few years later and has pursued a successful career since then.
Samina, who played the role of Kashaf’s mother in Zindagi Gulzar Hai, is now also seen in Noorpur Ki Rani, on the new entertainment channel, Zindagi. She effortlessly slips into her new role of a conniving Catholic woman in the show. Talking about her shows, Samina says that she isn’t surprised that they are getting a positive response in India. “Both the countries have similar problems and identical family set-ups, so it was obvious that our content would find favour here,” she says.

She adds, “If we can marry the technical expertise and high production standards of India with the sensitive content and direction of Pakistan, I am sure we would set the benchmark for shows around the globe.”
