Sameer Patil, currently seen in
Tumm Se Tumm Tak has worked on both sides of the camera—as a director and also as an actor. Known for directing regional films like
Poshter Boys and
Bhau Bali, Patil says the shift has been both exciting and humbling.
“In front of the camera, I don’t need to worry about technical aspects, so I feel more relaxed. But as an actor, I have to think deeply about my lines, co-actors, and the backstory. It’s a different kind of responsibility, but I truly enjoy it,” he says.
The actor consciously separates his directorial instincts when he’s acting. “Every director has his own vision, so I don’t interfere. I stay in my actor’s zone and trust the director’s process. Even if I have a different perspective, I eventually go with the director’s vision. As a director, I had to oversee everything. Now, I focus only on my performance and let others handle their parts,” he shares.
Sameer concludes, “As an actor, I’m now comfortable in front of the camera. And as a storyteller, I feel like I’m reinventing myself every day.”
