Life has come full circle for Salman Yusuff Khan. After winning the first season of Dance India Dance, he participated in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (JDJ) as a choreographer in 2011 and was a part of it in the subsequent seasons as well. Now, he is excited about his stint in the dance reality show as a celebrity contestant.
“I’ve been working hard to impress the judges and audience.
JDJ is premiering this weekend and I can’t wait to take on the challenges,” he says, adding that he wants his four-month-old son, Hamdan, to visit the set once. “He is too young to understand anything, but I want to perform for him. I would love to see his reaction,” exclaims the doting father. Buzz is that a few of Salman’s co-contestants aren’t too happy with him competing since he is a choreographer. However, he asserts, “It was the decision of the makers, but I don’t know why anyone should get upset. Earlier, professional dancers like Lauren Gottlieb and Shakti Mohan have been contestants. Votes decide your fate as much as your dancing skills. TV celebs will have an edge over others as viewers know them.”
Meanwhile, Salman is busy with his big screen projects too. Apart from a film on ballroom dancing, he is also kicked about Hollywood director Duane Adler’s Heartbeats. “I’ve done dance-based movies, but I’m game to experiment with different roles to prove my mettle as an actor,” he signs off.
