Saba Ibrahim on her bond with brother Shoaib Ibrahim and bhabhi Dipika Kakar; says ‘They are like father and mother figure to me’
Saba Ibrahim opens up about her close bond with her brother Shoaib Ibrahim and sister-in-law Dipika Kakar, sharing how they played a pivotal role in her vlogging journey. When she was looking for work
I always wanted to work no matter how much the money was. I didn’t want to take help from bhai-bhabhi. I didn’t want them to speak to someone for me. They might not give me a job. I messaged all the producers, and some messages I keep deleting because many haven’t read my messages yet. Ekta Kapoor or any other famous people I would see on Instagram, I would message them. I was ready to work for free. Someone noticed and I got an assistant stylist’s job. It was very tough. But traffic, travelling and long working hours made my health deteriorate. So during lockdown, I started with my vlogs.
Shoaib bhai has been very caring
Bhai bachpan se bahut caring hai. We have 6 years age gap and that elderly feeling is there in him. He has been a very caring brother. Chhote bhai-behen me ladai hoti hai. We never fought. If I forgot my tiffin in school, he would leave his friends and come and give me my tiffin box. Main hi ziddi thi shayad but I don’t remember fighting ever. In fact, once I wanted to learn cycling. He would hold the carrier and run behind me so that I wouldn’t fall. He is protective towards everybody.
How Shoaib stepped up after their father’s health deteriorated
After our father’s health deteriorated, bhai stepped up in the fatherly role. Woh Ruhaan ke papa ab bane hai. A girl always goes to her father when she needs anything. After his health deteriorated I couldn’t share anything with him. He had a lot of health issues. Bhai took up his role and I share that relationship with him. Jahan jahan papa ko hona tha, bhai wahan pe khade rahe hai. He has supported and guided me throughout.
Her equation with bhabhi Dipika Kakar
It is often shown that sisters-in-law cannot be friends and fights happen. But nothing of that sort between Bhabhi and me. Bhabhi bahut zyada hi achhi hai. Bhai bhi achhe hai, bhabhi bhi achhe hai. In my thinking, our brother introduced her to us. She comes from a different family. She didn’t know what our equation was. When she saw how much our brother loves us, bhabhi ne bhai se kai guna zyada mohabbat di.
Everyone wants happiness for each other
At the end of the day, harr koi ek dusre ki khushi chahte hai. If bhabhi and I fight, bhai will be in tension. If bhai and I fight, bhabhi will be in tension. We don’t want tension. We love to live happily.
Bhabhi ke dil me mamta bahut hai
Bhabhi is this motherly figure. Unke dil me mamta bahut hai. If you share your problem with her, she will go out of her way to solve it. That’s her nature. Jaise bhai papa ke tarah khayal rakhte hai, waise bhabhi maa ki tarah khayal rakhti hai.
When she first met Dipika
When we came to Mumbai and she came to the station with bhai to receive us. We were nervous thinking she is a big actress. But she was very sweet. She made us all feel normal. Unhone hume Mumbai ghumaya.
