Rubina Dilaik says she ‘cut off her close friends’ as they didn’t show up during her pregnancy; ‘They were there for parties but…’
Rubina Dilaik, who has won hearts with several popular TV and reality shows, recently appeared on a podcast with close friend Jannat Zubair. The actress shared a video on her YouTube channel, where the duo spoke about their lives and how they have changed over time. Rubina recalled her pregnancy phase and mentioned how most of her close friends didn’t show up. She also praised Jannat for constantly being there for her.
She shared, “When I was pregnant, you came down and saw me. When my daughters were there, you came down and saw me. Jannat, I’ll be very honest, that pregnancy was, how do you say, a life-transforming journey for me. I cut off my so-called friends who said, ‘We are your friends.’ They were there for parties, they were there for good days, and maybe even sad days, but not the bad days. They didn’t show up for me when I was pregnant. And I just cut them off from my life without any explanation, because that’s what I feel friendship should be.”
She further said, “It is an unspoken bond, which doesn’t need to be like, ‘aaj hum yaar trip pe jaayenge,’ or ‘aaj hum accha time bitaayenge,’ or ‘aaj hum party karenge.’ But what you have defined for me is an absolute lesson, and I don’t take that for granted.”
Rubina further shared how she doesn’t take her friendships for granted and expects the same from her friends. She said, “Even when I had to ask you for this podcast, this is my season six I could have asked you much earlier. Why didn’t I do that? Because, as I said, I don’t take people for granted.”
Jannat, on the other hand, thanked Rubina for being there during the low phases of her life. She said, “Every time in my life that I’ve had a low moment or a situation, you were there for me. Because I remember our start was not good, actually, in the show. But you know, I think that is how organic bonds form. It wasn’t pretentious. It wasn’t forced. We didn’t have to like each other initially to build a bond, but I think that fondness grew over time. And I think that was beautiful it is intact, it is growing, and it will keep growing.”
