Rubina Dilaik recalls getting scammed during her first property investment and losing a hefty amount and the house; says 'The guy went absconding, took me 3 years to find him but lost everything'

In the recent podcast with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Rubina got candid about falling for a scam during her first property investment. Rubina also got candid about choosing her work talk over the brands for getting good wages in the TV Industry. Take a look at what she shared:

It isn't like I didn't wish to have luxurious bags, cars and all. Almost 10 years ago, we used to have a close-knit group of friends and all of them would keep asking me whether I was buying the expensive brands, solitaires and all. I would refuse and they would say that when you take a branded bag to the producer's office then your aura gets set and your branding happens. So when you ask for a certain amount then you are able to ask for that money. The person has a perception that he or she has a high maintenance.

If my worth is decided on what bag I carry and what car I drive then I think it is the wrong industry for me. I have gone through the darkest phase in my life. I have gone through extreme lows. I have been out of work for around two years. I have gone through depression, anxiety, all sufferings a teenager can go through making wrong choices. When I look back, those failures became a learning lesson for me.

I honestly learnt how to invest after Abhinav came into my life. Uske pehle Maine itna paisa udaya, kuch save nahi kiya. I studied thoroughly where to invest and what to invest. During 2008 and 2010 my first show was my claim to fame Choti Bahu. I had earned a lot of money but I didn't save a single penny. I was spending it here and there. I bought everything that I was told.

I regret that my family didn't teach me. I don't blame my parents but I will make sure that my daughters learn financial independence. I am the first millionaire in my family and I proudly say that. Coming from a family where the tradition is that by 25 you marry a pahadi and have a simple life. I made an identity for myself. So to reach till here wasn't easy. I have gone through lot many bad choices.

I haven't invested anything in Mumbai for the past 10 years. When I had bought my first home, it went into the wrong hands. Within less than 90 days I was supposed to shift in the house. The guy where the money was invested went absconding. It took me 3 years to find and bring the money back but that never came back. I lost that house, the money and everything.
