Rohit Devda: While working on Kaamdhenu Gaumata, I realized how layered and meaningful these stories actually are
Rohit Devda is playing Indradev in Prem Sagar and Shiv Sagar's latest mythological venture, Kaamdhenu Gaumata. The show revolves around the life of the holy wish-fulfilling cow and went on air on August 11. He shared that working on the show deepened his spiritual beliefs. He said, "Before this show, like most of us, I had a basic understanding of Indian mythology—we’ve all grown up hearing stories. But while working on Kaamdhenu Gaumata, I realized how layered and meaningful these stories actually are."
"Playing Indradev made me look deeper into his journey—not just as a god, but as someone who goes through emotions like pride, fear, and responsibility. It made me think about how even divine characters are shown evolving and learning, just like us. That shifted my perspective a lot," he added.
He also shared that playing a role in the show affected his perspective about Kaamdhenu and said, "When you’re part of a show that revolves around Kaamdhenu, who represents purity, abundance, and divine blessings, it naturally makes you reflect on those values in your own life. I started noticing how often we chase external things—success, fame, material possessions—but this story teaches that true abundance is about gratitude, giving, and living in harmony. Playing Indradev, who himself learns important lessons in the story, also made me look within."
"Somewhere, this show reminded me to trust more, stay grounded, and see the divine in simple things like nature, relationships, or even daily work. It wasn’t just a character journey—it became a personal one too. And I think that’s the beauty of mythological storytelling: it touches your soul if you let it," he added.
For Rohit it was an honor to work with veteran creatives like Prem Sagar and Shiv Sagar. He said, "Working with legends like Prem Sagar ji and Shiv Sagar ji is like stepping into a masterclass every single day. They are not just creators—they are visionaries. The way they see mythology, the detailing they bring, the respect they have for the subject—it’s inspiring."
"What I personally loved is how grounded and humble they are, despite their experience. They never make you feel like you’re just an actor. They involve you, guide you with so much clarity and patience, and at the same time give you space to explore your character. Prem ji’s experience and calm energy, combined with Shiv ji’s precision and creative vision, is a powerful combination. I’ve grown a lot just by observing them. I feel truly lucky that I got to be a small part of their epic storytelling," he added.
He also shared that being around them is a learning experience. "Prem Sagar ji and Shiv Sagar ji have been shaping the world of mythological television for decades, so when they speak, you listen—and you absorb. One big thing I’ve learned from them is the importance of authenticity. For them, it’s not just about creating a good-looking show—it’s about staying true to the roots, the scriptures, and the essence of our culture. They also have this amazing clarity in their vision. They know exactly what they want from a scene, but they still let you bring your own touch to it."
"And more than anything, I’ve learned humility from them. Despite being pioneers, they treat everyone on set with so much respect. That kind of energy creates a very positive environment and really inspires you to give your best every day," he added.
Speaking about the diverse cast, he said, "The dynamics were honestly amazing. We had such a mix of talent—some came from strong theater roots, some from television, and some with years of experience in mythological shows. That diversity made the set really vibrant."
"Everyone brought their own flavor and process, and we all learned a lot from each other. It never felt like a competition—it felt like a collaboration. We were all working towards one big vision, and that helped build a lot of mutual respect," Rohit ended.
