What made this sweaty May afternoon joyful was having the Gujarati actor brigade -Sarita Joshi,
Apara Mehta and producer-actor JD Majethia together for a candid conversation during their recent trip to the city. In between sharing notes about their upcoming venture Bakula Bua Ka Bhoot, where
Sarita, Apara and JD will be working together for the first time. An excited Apara says, “Even though I was looking at a break, I couldn't say no to this creative team.
I've known Saritaben for such a long time, but we've never worked together, either on stage or on TV -I'm glad that's happening now."
Sarita chips in with a different take, “For the first time the audience will get to see something different from saasbahu nonk jhonk. Apara and I will indulge in some politics of nanad-bhabhi!“ Excerpts from a chat:
AHMEDABAD'S FACELIFT IS PRETTY IMPRESSIVE
JD: While we were driving from the airport to our hotel this morn ing, it was impressive to see the riverfront and the way it is being maintained. In fact last time when I met Modiji (he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat then), he suggested me to go Kankaria with my children. I was really surprised to see the makeover of the place.Apara Mehta: I have seen the city right from its pol areas to the west Ahmedabad's wonderful infrastructure. The city's development has been phenomenal and it continues to strike a wonderful balance of a small-town-charm and a dazzling-mega city .
Sarita Joshi: I agree with JD and Apara on how the city has transformed. And I am glad that the heritage of old city is still retained to perfection by Amdavadis.
THEATRE DIARIES
Sarita: I have got great openings for my best of plays, Saptapadi, Santu Rangeeli we used to have one month's booking in that era. We used to be felicitated with flowers from the Phool Bazaar of this city . We have stayed in beautiful bungalows and have seen massive queues for plays to start or to buy tick ets as well. Over the years, we've seen quality audience coming to watch our experi ments.

I would say Ahmedabad has played a significant role in my journey as an actor. Not only that, trying out wonder ful food available at Khau Galli and Manek Chowk have been wonderful experiences.
JD Majethia: Performing for Ahmedabad's audiences is a different high for me as an actor. They appreciate good plays.Till date, there's a huge demand for good plays. I have enjoyed relishing the street food next to Thakorebhai Desai hall and shopping at Law Garden for those gaamthi-work dresses. All these memories make me smile.
