Renowned comedian Ahsaan Qureshi makes his comeback on TV with Saru; says 'I’ve returned to the camera after a long time'
Saru has struck a deep emotional chord with viewers, resonating through its heartfelt storytelling and powerful performances. As the show follows Saru’s (Mohak Matkar) journey of courage and resilience in the big city, it’s the dynamic ensemble cast that enriches the narrative. One such character bringing humour, heart, and poetic charm to the screen is Narayan Ji — fondly known as NJ in the show, played by celebrated actor and comedian Ahsaan Qureshi.
For years, Ahsaan Qureshi made the nation laugh with his signature shayari and sharp comic timing. Audiences have known and loved his work — and now, after a six-year hiatus, he’s back on television, doing exactly what he does best: bringing laughter into people’s lives.
Marking his return to television, Ahsaan steps into a role that feels like a natural extension of his unique comedic and poetic flair. As Ved’s (Shagun Pandey) childhood caretaker and lifelong confidant, NJ is much more than a companion — he is a guide, a sounding board, and a steady presence who softens life’s challenges with warmth and wit. With Shayari-laced punchlines and impeccable timing, NJ offers light-hearted relief while also serving as the emotional anchor in Ved’s life.
Sharing his enthusiasm, Ahsaan Qureshi said, “I’ve returned to the camera after a long time, but didn’t let go of the mic or my sense of humour! I am looking forward to working on my first show with the channel and am thrilled to team up once again with the wonderful team at Shashi Sumeet Productions. Stepping into the world of Saru has felt like the perfect next chapter for me, the show carries depth and meaning. NJ isn’t just a character for me — he’s the voice of everyone who knows how to smile even on life’s toughest turns. NJ is always a steady source of support, be it for Ved or Saru. Through poetry, I hope to share some wisdom, and with humour, a little comfort — that’s what I aim to bring to Saru.”
As Ahsaan Qureshi brings his signature poetic twist to Saru, the show continues to evolve with new challenges, especially with Anika constantly stirring up conflict in Saru’s path.Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Republic Day Wishes, Messages, Quotes and speech!
