Remember Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s OG Tapu played by Bhavya Gandhi: Here’s how he looks now and what he is up to

Bhavya Gandhi, who played the role of Tapu in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah as a child, is now playing leading actor roles in Gujarati films. The 26-year-old actor has come a long way and here’s a look at what he is up to now post quitting the most-watched sitcom.

2/8

Entering Gujarati film industry

Post quitting Taarak, to pursue a career in acting in films, he then dabbled in Gujarati industry. He did films like Kehvatlal Parivar and Tari Sathe, and many short films. He has been shooting abroad for his films and would often post pictures from the shoot locations.

Struggle to break the child actor image

Speaking to Ahmedabad Times, Bhavya spoke about the struggles a child actor has to go through to find acceptance as a lead actor. He said, “Finding acceptance as a grown-up male lead is still a massive struggle for most child actors, but as long as one is happy with one’s work, and where one is, the struggle doesn’t really matter. I don’t let people’s perceptions about my work bother me. I want to be the guy jisne sabko bachpan mein hasaya, jawani mein bhi hasaya aur budhape mein bhi hasaye ja raha hai. That is how I would like to be remembered.”

Being an ambassador for the voter awareness campaign

Bhavya was chosen as one of ambassadors for the voter awareness campaign for the 2022 Assembly elections. From performing flash mobs to releasing a song, Bhavya did his part in order to encourage youngsters to step out and vote.

5/8

His travel pics

From riding a bike and exploring Gujarat to visiting some scenic locations abroad, Bhavya shared some breathtaking travel pictures. He is quite the explorer and these pictures are a proof.

6/8

Doing commentary in cricket matches

Bhavya had joined one of the IPL matches as a commentator. He entertained everyone with his commentary in Gujarati for a match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans.

7/8

Why he left Taarak

Speaking exclusively to ETimes TV, Bhavya had shared that after 9 years, he felt monotonous. He said, “Because at a point in Taarak, I was just doing something, which was just monotonous. I'm just doing something constantly, I was just coming there everyday, doing this, doing that and then pack up, chalo ghar, and that happened for a long time. I said this is monotony and didn't know how to handle it, I had no clue. I left Taarak to explore life, to see more, to understand more and understand myself more and art more, to know more actually.”

8/8

Playing the role of Tapu for 9 long years

Bhavya played the role of Tapu since its inception in 2008 and quit after 9 years in 2017. He was much loved as the young Tapu and his nok-jhok with his on-screen father Jethalal, played by Dilip Joshi was also much loved.
