Malgudi Days
', a TV series based on the works of one of the best cartoonist R.K.Laxman.
The stories in the series revolved around little
Swami
and his friends, who despises school and roams around the streets of Malgudi.
Thirty-nine episodes of Malgudi Days were telecast on Doordarshan. Subsequently, it was re-telecast on Doordarshan and later on Sony Entertainment Television, and MAA Television in Telugu. This series was shot entirely near Agumbe in Shimoga District, Karnataka.
Manjunath Nayaker played the role of Swami and became one of the most loved characters till now. After Malgudi Days, Manju worked in many Kannada movies and was also seen playing the young Vijay Deenanath Chauhan in Amitabh Bachchan's 'Agneepath'.
While talking to an online entertainment portal, after working in a few films, Manjunath completed his education and worked for an IT firm for 14 years. He is happily married today and has a 5-year old son too. Swami, now works for himself as a consultant in Public Relations.
