Rajeev Khandelwal recalls how his family broke stereotypes around women’s clothing
The upcoming episode of Tum Ho Naa – Ghar Ki Superstar will highlight how the world is evolving when it comes to women and why this much-needed change truly matters, and how this show reflects modern perspectives on women’s comfort, freedom, and their choices, while standing firmly with them.
During a heartfelt conversation with host Rajeev Khandelwal, contestant Vrishty shared how her family is open-minded, but somewhere in this long journey after marriage, she became more habituated with wearing sarees that she now feels uncomfortable even stepping in front of her father-in-law wearing suits. She mentioned that the rest of her family is comfortable with her wearing suits, but she personally still feels conscious about it. She also explained how the younger generation in her house now wears whatever they feel comfortable in, embracing change with ease.
Adding to the conversation, Host Rajeev Khandelwal recalled how his own family had broken this stereotype long ago and had always been quite relaxed about such choices. Speaking about the practical side of it, he also raised an important concern about how wearing a saree throughout the day can often be uncomfortable for women.
He said “Kabhi kabhi who yeh samajhna shayad bhool jaate hai ki saree mein din bhar raho toh kitna uncomfortable hota hai."
Earlier, in an episode, Rajeev spoke about the difficult moment from his life when his father suffered a heart attack.
Talking about it while on the show Tum Ho Naa, the actor said, “2005 mein, mere papa ko heart attack aayla tha. Unka bypass hone wala tha. Jab main Delhi mein unke paas gaya, mujhe ek hi pal yaad hain jab unhe OT mein le ja rahein thein.”
He added, “Papa unconscious the aur main darwaaze par khada tha, bas unhe jaate hue dekh raha tha. Woh pal aisa tha ki mujhe samajh nahi aa raha tha, main kya karun… darwaaza band hone ke baad kya hoga, bas wahi khayal mann mein aa raha tha.”
