Raashul Tandon, who played Aladdin’s loveable Genie in Alind Srivastava and Nissar Parvej's 'Aladdin – Naam Toh Suna Hoga', has now turned negative on the show. The actor recounts his experience of what all it took to get into the skin of negative Genie’s character.
He shares, “It was a difficult task for me to understand the traits of the character, which is negative, as I haven't seen a bad genie on TV before. But I tried to understand the requirement based on the brief given to me by my creative team. Since the transformation from the good to bad happened within a week’s time, I did spend a lot of time trying to understand how the negative Genie would act."
The actor binge watched a lot of fantasy shows for a better understanding of the character. He says, “I saw a lot of fantasy shows, especially noticing the body language and the tone of negative characters. I am known for my wit and smile on the set, which I completely stopped as I wanted to be in the character all the time. I stopped talking to people and would only step out of my room when I was called for the shot. It might sound a little weird, but I actually got a photoshoot done, where I am all serious and sports a beard to get that angry look on my face.”
