Actress Indraxi Kanjilal, currently seen as Prarthana in Pushpa Impossible, believes that every woman’s journey is unique and filled with challenges. This Women’s Day, she shares a heartfelt tribute to the most inspiring woman in her life—her grandmother.
“I believe that every woman has her own story, and I admire all the women in my family. Each of them has done something remarkable in their own way. Women go through extraordinary experiences, and I find them all incredible. However, if I had to name one person who inspires me the most, it would undoubtedly be my grandmother—my mother’s mother. She was an exceptional woman who defied societal norms during a time when traditions were rigid and opportunities for women were limited,” she says.
Indraxi shares how her grandmother's resilience and determination shaped her outlook on life. “Back then, people were not very open-minded. Women were often expected to marry young, sometimes as early as sixteen or seventeen. My grandmother, however, had a deep love for education and a desire to build a career. When her family pressured her to marry early, she firmly refused. She told them, ‘I will not marry anyone until I complete my studies. I will marry someone who respects my career choices, and even after marriage, I will continue working.’ She kept her promise and didn’t marry until she was thirty.”
She further reveals that her grandfather supported and respected her grandmother’s choices. “Even after marriage, she continued working with his encouragement. Tragically, she became a widow at just forty, but she didn’t let that stop her. She raised her family single-handedly, proving her strength and determination. She was a powerhouse of resilience, and I deeply admire her.”
