Pratham Kunwar: I’ve been celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi since 2017, when I bought my new house
Actor Pratham Kunwar, currently playing Nirvair in Jhalee Ki Kahani, has been welcoming Ganpati into his home since 2017, the year he bought his house. Known for shows like Beti Hamari Anmol (as Rishi), Yeh Hai Chahatein, Meet, Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega, and Humkadam, the actor says the festival has become an integral part of his life.
“I’ve been celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi since 2017, when I bought my new house. Since then, Bappa has been coming home every year,” he shares.
The preparations, he says, are mostly done by him. “I usually do all the preparations and decoration myself, often staying up the whole night. When I’m shooting, close friends step in to help. Even if the schedule is tight, like this year, I make sure to at least do the morning aarti and bhog before heading to set.”
Over the years, his way of celebrating has also evolved. “In the initial years, I used to call a pandit ji for the puja, but for the past 1–2 years I’ve been doing it myself, which makes the experience even more personal,” he says.
Pratham adds that his faith remains central to the celebrations. “I share a very special bond with Bappa. For almost 7–8 years, I visited Siddhivinayak temple every Tuesday without fail. This festival brings my family and friends together, and having everyone at my home makes it even more meaningful.”
The actor connects his professional milestones with the festival too. “I always dreamt of bringing Ganpati home, and after buying my own house, I felt it was the right time. Honestly, I feel Bappa has always blessed me — many times when I didn’t have work, opportunities came soon after his arrival. Once, I even got finalized for a show the very night Bappa came home. I couldn’t stay with him that year, but I believed it was his way of blessing me with work.”
