Prasad Athalye: Being a father in real life helped me connect deeply with Ramgopal
Actor Prasad Athalye, currently seen as Ramgopal in Oh Humnava: Tum Dena Saath Mera, plays the role of a father to actress Sriti Jha in the show. Reflecting on his experience, the actor says the role became deeply personal because of his own life experiences.
Speaking about working with Sriti Jha, Prasad has only admiration for his co-star. “It has been a wonderful experience working with such a talented actress. Sriti is warm, polite, and extremely cooperative. She is easily one of the best co-artists I’ve worked with so far,” he shares.
While audiences are connecting with Ramgopal’s emotional depth, Prasad admits that he is quite different from the character in real life. “Emotionally, I’m very different from Ramgopal, so I had to work on getting under his skin by understanding his behaviour and body language,” he explains. “It wasn’t just about wearing a costume—it was about rewiring how I thought, moved, and felt from the inside.”
The actor says his real-life bond as a father played an important role in shaping his performance. “I’m a father to two grown-up daughters, just like Ramgopal, and that connection quietly ran very deep. It gave me something real to hold onto every time the camera rolled,” he says.
Beyond the role itself, Prasad reveals that the show’s emotional and social relevance drew him to the project. “I’m genuinely grateful to be part of a show that doesn’t shy away from difficult conversations. Being associated with meaningful and socially relevant work is something I deeply value, and this show is exactly that.”
