Poorna plays Pak woman on US TV

Indian-American actress Poorna Jagannathan, who was lauded for her performance in Aamir Khan’s Delhi Belly, has landed a plum assignment in the drama series, Criminal Justice. The New York-set crime drama is aired on a popular international television channel.
In the series, Jagannathan will play Safar Khan, a Pakistani woman whose son is accused of murder. About her character, Jagannathan, who has acted in many American series in the past, says, “Safar Khan is the polar opposite of my character in Delhi Belly! I’ve never played someone like her, but the writing is so strong that it makes playing her feel like second nature.Her journey is a roller coaster. She goes from believing that her son is innocent, to eventually thinking he might be guilty.”
Jagannathan was born in Tunisia and currently shuttles between New York and Mumbai.
