Police probe Prashant Tamang’s sudden demise; family indicates no foul play
Singer Prashant Tamang, who won Indian Idol 3, passed away at the age of 42 due to a heart attack on 11 January. He was reportedly taken to the hospital after suffering a heart attack in Dwarka. Prashant’s sudden demise has not only left his family deeply saddened but also the music industry and his fans. The police have now shared their official statement about his demise.
Prashant’s close friend Amit Paul shared news of his demise on social media. He penned a heartfelt note mourning his death. Amit’s post read, “How’s it even fair!!! Keep smiling, Dosti!! The world won’t be the same without you!!! I still cannot process this… My brother, my friend, my dosti, @prashanttamangofficial has left for the heavenly abode… I can’t believe I’m having to write this.”
According to Tamang’s other close friend, singer Mahesh Sewa, “He (Tamang) passed away this morning around 9 am due to cardiac arrest at his residence in Delhi. He was taken to the hospital by his family but the doctors declared him dead on arrival. I’m shocked by his untimely demise. I spoke to him a few days ago and he was hale and hearty.”
Moreover, the police confirmed that Prashant Tamang was taken to the hospital by his wife to Mata Chanan Devi Hospital for treatment after he suffered a heart attack. However, the doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The investigating officer then reached the hospital and his body was shifted to DDU Hospital for post-mortem examination. Statements were recorded by the police confirming that they don’t suspect any foul play.
Fellow singer Pramod Kharel also confirmed Prashant’s sudden demise on Facebook. “When all our fellow musicians living in Darjeeling spoke about his death, only then did I come to know,” Kharel wrote.
