Samarth Shandilya, who was last seen as Rangeela in the show
Perfect Pati, got married to Nishi Joshi in Delhi recently. The actor kicked off his wedding celebrations with a engagement-cum-
sangeet-cum-cocktail party in Dhaula Kuan, which saw his friends from the television industry in attendance.
Samarth’s
Perfect Pati co-star Ayush Anand was among the guests who flew down from Mumbai to attend the celebrations. “I’ve really missed the Dilli ki sardi! I miss winters in Mumbai and never get to be in the capital to experience the winters. However, this time, it is a double bonanza as it is my dear friend’s wedding and I get to enjoy the
sardi,” said Ayush.
After the engagement, the
sangeet got everyone tapping their feet as Samarth and Nishi’s families and friends put up entertaining performances. However, the venue roared with cheers as Samarth and Nishi gave solo performances, which were later followed by a fun-yet-romantic couple dance. Nishi said, “It all feels like a fairytale to me. I feel very lucky to have Samarth by my side.”
Mohit Malhotra with his girlfriend, AishwaryaaMohit Malhotra, who was in attendance with his girlfriend, actor-model Aishwaryaa, said, “One can never miss a Delhi wedding.
Yahaan ki shaadiyon ki baat hi alag hoti hai. Moreover, Samarth is one of my closest friends so I had to attend his special day.” Aishwaryaa was last seen in
Gully Boy.The couple got married the next day in Malviya Nagar, and since they advocate for animal rights, Samarth came with his
baraat in a car and not on a horse. “We do not support using horses for
baraats at weddings, so I decided to come in an open-roof car. However, we did perform some rituals with a horse at a temple. We brought the horse to the temple, fed it well and gave the handler some cash and food for the horse. The horse was nowhere near any loud noise or harsh light which may trouble it,” said Samarth.
For the
joota-chupai ceremony, Samarth himself gave one shoe to his
saalis and the other one to his cousins. “My
saalis are really sweet. I gave them one shoe to hide and kept the other one for my cousins and
saalis to fight on. It was a lot of fun, as there was a lot of negotiation going on to decide for the
shagun for the
rasam,” he added.
Samarth also added that he and Nishi kept laughing throughout the
pheras. “Both Nishi and I kept laughing and the pandit was visibly furious (
laughs),” said Samarth. Keeping in tune with the times, the couple also chronicled their wedding festivities on social media, posting fun videos of
sangeet and
joota-chupai, among other ceremonies.
