Pariva Pranati, who plays a head nurse in Hamari Sister Didi, says she witnessed first-hand the bond shared between a patient and a nurse and that has upped the respect she had for the profession.
The actress says, “My cousin was scheduled to be operated for brain tumour and I had stayed with him in the hospital during that time. The way the nurses took care of him and gave him confidence amazed me.
They became his friends, and would tell him to chill and told him ‘sab teekh ho jaayega’. After a point, my cousin was telling his family that he was going to be fine. I feel that at times, doctors end up making the patients nervous. They do their job and leave. But nurses interact with them, put them in a comfort zone and care for them compassionately till they get back on their feet.”

Ask Pariva if she feels playing the protagonist, Amrita, in the show is a huge responsibility, and she says, “I enjoy my work and concentrate more on my lines, my chemistry with co-actors and don’t bother about the TRPs. I look for content that challenges me as an actor, and this show has done that.”
Is there any episode that has left a lasting impact on her? She answers, “We shot the episode in which my mom-in-law (played by Alka Kaushal) falls down at a railway station in real location with real people. Almost everyone there panicked and came to help. Shooting for this scene was an unforgettable experience.”
Hamari Sister Didi airs from Monday to Saturday at 8.30pm on the new channel PAL.
