Only for the armed forces: Ashiesh Roy
Ashiesh Roy’s been doing theatre for years, but his recent performance has made him happiest.
That’s because Ashiesh and his colleagues went down to Khadakvasla and performed a play for the cadets at the National Defence Academy. “To perform for our armed forces is undoubtedly an honour,” says Ashiesh, who is glad his friends supported him in this.
As soon as he heard about the opportunity, he consulted his co-actor Bhavna Balsaver, who was equally charged up.
“We didn’t want to do a regular song-and-dance show, but something meaningful yet entertaining for the cadets,” he says.
Bhavana’s mother, veteran actress Shubha Khote suggested that they do a play and the actors took 15 days off from their shooting schedules to prepare a humorous play about love and trust named Let’s Do It, which Shubha directed. “Theatre is a wonderful medium of entertainment as well as communication. And the process of theatre is very similar to that of the armed forces — both involve self-confidence, focus, concentration, working in a group, and trusting your partner,” he says.
