Online classes come to the rescue of these student TV actors

A TV actor trying to complete his/her school homework while shooting for a serial is a common sight now on a television set. Right from taking exams in the classrooms in the morning to reading the scripts in their vanity vans in the evening, some stars, who are also students, were often seen juggling between the set and their schools or colleges. Things have, however, changed with the whole education system going online. These TV actors tell us why they are thrilled with the change...

Anushka Sen: It has resolved my attendance issues

'Apna Time Bhi Aayega' actress Anushka Sen, who’s a Thakur College of Science & Commerce student, is no longer worried about her attendance with the new change. She says, “Attendance was always an issue, as I’d miss most of the classes. I got 89.4% in 12th CBSE boards because my school helped me complete my courses. Now, I am pursuing a degree in filmography in college, so we get video links to attend classes online now. Whenever I am free, I just enter the link and attend the class.”

Kartikey Malviya:

'Radhakrishn' actor Kartikey Malviya was juggling between Mumbai and Bhopal, trying to balance between work and education, till the pandemic turned everything around. The Class 12 student from Billabong International School says, “Exams and classes happening online are a blessing in disguise for actors like me who are still studying. Now that everything is online, I don’t have to juggle between work and school.”

Samay Shah: Online classes have made things convenient, but also made me lazy

For 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' actor Samay Shah going to college, Thakur College of Science and Commerce, was fun as he feels lazy with this system. “As child actors, it’s become a habit to work and study under immense pressure. The rush in the body when we have to immediately reach the set or college on time, made life interesting. I miss bunking college with my friends and going to the tapri outside my college to have chai and eat junk food. With everything on my phone and laptop, it’s convenient for sure, but it has also made me lazy,” says the BMM student.

Nikki Sharma: I don’t have to choose between studies and career now

Life for Brahmarakshas 2 actress Nikki Sharma, who is pursuing a course in business administration from an international university, has become less hectic now. “I would have been in a fix if I had to choose between pursuing a TV show and my studies as both are important to me. Now, I just login for my class in the time I get between my shots. While I loved the long distance studying option, gathering study material and connecting with professors has become much easier now,” shares Nikki.

Perin Malde: I get to have more time for myself now

'Ramayan' actor Perin Malde, a third-year BMM student from SK Somaiya College, found it difficult to wake up early in the morning and travel across the city to give an audition. “This new way of learning has solved that problem, I’m learning from my comfort zone. The college duration has also decreased, so I get to have more time for myself. It’s convenient and simple as one is carrying a whole classroom in their laptop. I can study whenever and wherever I want,” he shares.
