Though she is under immense duress herself as her brother-in-law,
Kaushal Agarwal
is stuck in
Afghanistan
,
Nupur Alankar
hasn’t shied away from her responsibilities. As reported by us earlier, the actress gave shelter to an ailing and financially weak
Savita Bajaj. Nupur had moved the senior actress to her sister, Jigyasa’s home in July. Now, a month-and-a-half later, she has helped Savita move back to her own home.
Giving us an update on Savita’s health, Nupur tells us, “Savitaji has recovered well and is able to do household chores on her own. While earlier, she had to be on
oxygen
support throughout, we have managed to wean her off it for at least eight hours a day. We trained her to incorporate exercises and therapies in her regime in order to maintain a balance and observe her symptoms and health on her own.”
Nupur feels that Savita needs to feel independent so that she can get back to her normal routine. She says, “Shifting back to her rented flat will make her feel normal and independent. If she keeps improving, she will soon be independent. She was feeling nostalgic and has a deep attachment to that home. All her belongings are there and she has discarded everything that reminded her of her bad experience.”
She adds, “It’s still on a trial basis. We have hired two house helps to tend to her and have set up a tiffin service. My therapist and I will visit her daily for at least a month to monitor her
recovery
. She has developed a beautiful bond with my sister and her twins, so she will be with us on weekends. From what I understand, letting her stay on her own will help her regain the confidence of being independent again and help her mentally, too.”
While Savita has enough
funds
to sustain herself for a couple of months, she would eventually need financial aid. Nupur says, “Fortunately, her landlord has granted her enough time to pay the rent. I am also approaching a few NGOs with the hope that they will come to her rescue. Fingers crossed.”
