Television’s most famous Krishna’s religious streak surfaced in Jodhpur when he recently visited the city

Actor Nitish Bharadwaj, popularly known as Krishna from BR Chopra’s 'Mahabharat', was recently in Jodhpur for Guru Poornima. Even after two decades since the end of the show, Bhardwaj is still associated with the character. The actor says he is spiritually inclined in his personal life too. “I have always been inclined towards spirituality. It is not something that happened to me after playing Krishna, which is what most people think,” said Nitish, who had come to seek blessings from his guruji in Jodhpur.

It wasn’t long ago when Bhardwaj had visited Jodhpur where he reprised his role of Krishna in the play 'Chakravyuh'. He says he has got many reasons to love this city. He told us, “Jodhpur is a lovely city. I just love coming here. In fact, I love visiting Jaisalmer too. The beautiful sand dunes interest me. Rajasthani people are also very hospitable and courteous, which is something you don’t get to see in big cities. And of course, I love eating the spicy pyaaz ki kachori and jalebi here.”

Over the years, the actor has donned many hats – one of them being a politician’s. Talking about his political stint, Nitish said, “Now politics has completely taken a backseat for me. I was pretty active from 1995 to 2007 and I enjoyed it too, but now my focus is back to acting and direction. Presently, I am caught up with the direction of my upcoming film. The script is ready and I am busy with the casting process.”
When we asked him if he plans to come back to the small screen, he said, “I can’t handle both acting and direction simultaneously. So, I am focusing only on direction at the moment.”
