Nishant, who plays Anukalp, themale lead in the show “Ram Milaye Jodi” had informed the productionhouse a few months back about his decision to quit the show to chase hisBollywood dream. Following a row with the producer Rajita Sharma on being askedabout the authenticity of his Bollywood offer, Nishant didn’t turn up forthe shoot. Later, when CINTAA took up the matter, it was decided that Nishantwould shoot till a replacement was found. Now, with Nishant having injured hisback, the show will need a replacement immediately. Nishant says,“Yes, it is true that I haven’t been shooting for the last 10 days.I couldn’t have as I have injured my back. The production team has beenlooking for my replacement for the last three months. But I think either theyhaven’t been making an earnest effort or haven’t been able to findanyone. Since I will take some time to recover, it would be best if an actor issoon found to replace me in the serial.” Among the few names that arebeing considered to replace Nishant include Hasan Zaidi, Puru Chibber, KaranWahi, Kinshuk Mahajan and Angad Hasija.
Hasn’t the productionteam been pressurising him to resume work? “No, because I have submittedmy medical certificates to authenticate my ill health. I was asked to do that. Ishowed the medical documents I got from Dhirubahi Ambani Hospital, where I wastreated. Both the channel and the production house have a copy of my medicalcertificates. At least, it is clear that I’m not faking it.” Irrespective of what had happened in the past, Nishant tells us theshow’s crew and cast have been in constant touch with him to inquire abouthis health. “Vivek, the show’s co-producer spoke to me and myfather. My co-actor Sara Khan too called me,” he says. How about theshow’s producer Rajita? “I haven’t been able to speak to her.In fact, I got to know from someone that she underwent a surgery to get kidneystones removed. So I don’t blame her at all.”
