Neha SK Mehta on her role in Itti Si Khushi: Playing Hetal Divekar has challenged me both emotionally and creatively
Itti Si Khushi has been winning hearts of the viewers with its relatable storytelling and powerful performances. While the show revolves around the lead character Anvita’s (Sumbul Touqeer Khan) journey of sacrifice and resilience, the recent episodes focussed on the turbulent relationship with her mother, Hetal Divekar, played by Neha SK Mehta.
Neha, who is popular for playing soft-spoken and gentle characters, has surprised viewers by stepping into a far louder, volatile character. Her acting flows naturally between loud conflicts and silent, emotional pauses.
Neha plays a character with strong emotions and inner struggles in Itti Si Khushi. The role shows how her character’s moods and behaviour change often. Neha makes sure that her character feels real and relatable. She clearly shows her character's emotional outbursts. Her performance feels natural, honest, and very human.
Speaking about the experience, Neha SK Mehta shared, “There are days when the role demands I move from a heightened energy to emotional withdrawal within the same shoot, and that requires a lot of preparation. Playing the role of Hetal Divekar has challenged me emotionally and creatively and it reminds me to approach such roles with honesty. The love and support from the cast and crew has made it easier to navigate such intense scenes.”
In an earlier conversation, the actress spoke about what keeps her motivated and passionate as an actor, "What keeps me motivated is the daily experience: audience reactions, their love and support. Acting is my bread and butter, my life’s journey. People often tell me that when I play a role, it touches their heart. If I can be part of someone’s life and contribute positively, that is deeply fulfilling. I believe in destiny, in prayer, in the wisdom behind human life, progress and happiness. The aspiration to do work that impacts society and people’s minds keeps me passionate."
